Chargers Celebrate Black History Month Game with Home Win Over Saddleback
CYPRESS, CA- The Cypress College women's basketball team honored its Black History Month game Thursday night with a strong 69–60 victory over Saddleback College at home.
The Chargers controlled much of the contest, using balanced scoring and a dominant rebounding effort to secure the conference win.Cypress built an early lead, taking a 35–28 advantage into halftime after efficient first-half shooting. The Chargers continued to maintain separation through the second half, outscoring Saddleback in both the third and fourth quarters to close out the nine-point win.
Leading the way was Christaesha Jackson, who poured in 20 points while adding 8 rebounds, 6 assists, and 3 blocks in an all-around performance. Marina Interiano dominated the glass with 19 rebounds to go with 13 points and 5 assists, providing a major presence inside. Mariah Henderson also contributed 13 points, while Kaylene Vivo chipped in 10 points and 4 assists.Cypress outrebounded Saddleback 43–26 and converted 15 second-chance points, key factors in maintaining control throughout the game.
