Chargers Finish Strong in Win Over Orange Coast
Cypress defeats OCC, 66-59
CYPRESS, CA – Cypress College women's basketball defended home court with a 66–59 win over Orange Coast Pirates on Wednesday night, fueled by high energy throughout the game and a strong push in the fourth quarter.
The Chargers jumped out early and built momentum in the second quarter, outscoring OCC 22–12 to take a halftime lead. Orange Coast responded after the break, narrowing the gap in the third, but Cypress never lost control as the intensity inside the gym continued to rise.
With the game tightening late, the fourth quarter belonged to the Chargers. Cypress brought its highest level of energy on both ends of the floor, shooting 50 percent in the final period and outscoring the Pirates 18–13 to secure the win.
Christaesha Jackson led Cypress with 17 points and eight rebounds, while Mariah Henderson added 13 points and 7 rebounds. Marina Interiano chipped in 10 points and seven rebounds, and Kaylene Vivo anchored the offense with four assists.
Cypress won the battle on the glass, outrebounding Orange Coast 34–23, and capitalized on second-chance opportunities with 18 points. The Chargers also turned defense into offense, scoring 19 points off turnovers.
