Cypress Prepares for the 2025 Charger Classic
Cypress women's basketball sets sights on a 3 game weekend.
CYPRESS, CA - The Cypress women's basketball team (8-0, 0-0 OEC) will be participating in the Charger Classic this upcoming weekend. The annual tournament will feature teams from all across the state. This includes American River (0-5, 0-0 Big 8), Reedley (7-1, 0-0 Big 8), Merced (2-6, 0-0 CVC), Saddleback (5-3, 0-0 OEC) and Palomar (5-2, 0-0 PCAC).
Heading into the Classic, the Chargers are shooting 44% from the field as a team, while shooting 31% from beyond the arc. They are on an 8 game winning streak, with their most recent wins coming against LA Valley and San Diego Mesa. Second year guard/forward Mariah Henderson is leading the team in scoring with 117 points. Not falling far behind is Christaesha Jackson with 116 points. Jackson is also shooting 42% from 3PT range.
Cypress is familiar with Palomar, as they participated in last year's Charger Classic, where the Chargers earned a 61–53 victory. Cypress is also well-acquainted with Saddleback, a fellow conference opponent, and defeated the Bobcats in both matchups in the 2024-25 season. The Chargers have not faced American River or Reedley in recent years, making those upcoming contests highly anticipated.
Charger Classic | Game admission: $5 & Parking Permits Required
UP NEXT: Cypress is at Don Johnson Court to kick off the 2025 Charger Classic against American River on Friday, December 5th at 5:00PM.
