Cypress Gains Momentum With 74–56 Win Over LA Trade-Tech
The Chargers take the victory against an undefeated LA Trade-Tech
CYPRESS, CA – The Cypress College women's basketball team (5-0, 0-0 OEC) was victorious over LA Trade-Tech (4-1, 0-0 SCC) on Saturday evening.
The Chargers set the tone early, outscoring the Beavers 22–15 in the opening quarter before delivering a decisive 25-point second period to take a 47–28 lead into halftime. Despite a slow offensive stretch in the third, Cypress regrouped and closed the game with a 19-point fourth quarter to secure the win.
Christaesha Jackson led the Chargers with 17 points, adding five rebounds, five assists, and three blocks in an all-around standout performance. Kaylene Vivo was highly efficient, scoring 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting while collecting four rebounds and a steal. Angelina Bado contributed 10 points, knocking down three triples, and Marina Leiva provided a strong lift off the bench with 10 points and four boards.
Cypress showcased impressive ball movement throughout the night, tallying 25 assists on 30 made field goals. The bench also made a significant impact, outscoring LA Trade-Tech's reserves 20–9.
On the defensive end, Cypress held the Beavers to just 30.3% shooting from the field and 24.3% from beyond the arc. The Chargers consistently forced tough shots and converted turnovers into points, totaling 22 points off turnovers.
