Cypress Softball Opens Season With 5–2 Win Over Cerritos
A game that saw 2 triples ends in a win for Cypress.
CYPRESS, CA - The Cypress Chargers (1-0, 0-0 OEC) opened their 2026 season with a 5–2 victory over Cerritos College (1-3, 0-0 SCC) on Tuesday afternoon, using a three-run third inning and a complete-game performance in the circle to secure the home win.
After two scoreless innings, the Chargers broke through in the bottom of the third. Cypress capitalized on timely hitting and pressure on the bases, highlighted by an RBI triple from Lynsey Arostigue and a run-scoring groundout from Isabella Rodriguez to take a 3–0 lead.
The Chargers added two insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, sparked by extra-base hits from Carly Parmenter and Isabela Guerrero, who each recorded triples on the afternoon. Guerrero also drove in a run and later scored to extend Cypress' lead to 5–2.
Cypress totaled six hits on the day, with Guerrero finishing 2-for-3 with an RBI, while Arostigue and Peyton Clark each drove in a run. Defensively, the Chargers limited Cerritos' opportunities, stranding 10 Falcon runners on base.
UP NEXT: The Chargers remain at home to face the San Diego Mesa Olympians in a doubleheader with the first game being on Friday, February 6th at 11:30AM.
