Despite close sets, the Chargers lose to the Orange Coast Pirates.
CYPRESS, CA – The Cypress College women's volleyball team (11-14, 8-8 OEC) showed grit and energy throughout the match but came up short against Orange Coast College (24-0, 15-0 OEC) falling in straight sets (25–18, 25–13, 25–18) on Wednesday night.
Sophomore setter Keilyn Flores anchored the offense with several key assists and hustle plays that kept rallies alive, while Amanda Kalpakoff and Faith Martin provided offensive sparks early in the first set. After falling behind 6–1, Cypress fought back behind kills from Addison Riddle and Martin, trimming the deficit to one before the Pirates closed the set, 25–18.
The second set saw continued effort from the Chargers' defense, highlighted by sophomore Audrey Perez, who made multiple diving saves to extend plays. Audrey Johnson, Dahlia Gonzalez, and Kalpakoff each recorded kills.
Cypress opened the third set strong behind a service ace from Kalpakoff and a block from Martin and Johnson, taking an early 5–2 lead. Lauren Carrillo and Melanie Villaseñor added points to keep the Chargers within striking distance.
