Broken Conference Record at OEC Championships
Charger Chantee Nguyen Sets New OEC Record in the Women's 200 Backstroke
COSTA MESA, CA - The Cypress College Women's Swim & Dive team delivered a strong showing at the Orange Empire Conference (OEC) Championships, held April 16–18, finishing fifth overall as a team.
Freshman standout Chantee Nguyen led the way with a dominant performance, totaling 60 individual points for the Chargers. Nguyen captured three conference titles, placing first in the 400 Individual Medley (4:30.23), 200 Backstroke (2:02.82), and 200 Butterfly (2:06.21).
Her performance in the 400 Individual Medley set a new Cypress school record, breaking the previous mark by an impressive five seconds (a record that had stood since 2018). Nguyen also made history in the 200 Backstroke, setting a new conference record with her winning time of 2:02.82.
The Chargers continued their record-breaking momentum in the 200 Medley Relay, where Mia Stockwell, Jasmine Liu, Chantee Nguyen, and Ivy Olvas combined for a time of 1:52.25. The quartet shattered the previous school record by one second, earning a second-place conference finish.
UP NEXT: The Chargers will compete in the 3C2A State Championships at Orange Coast College on Thursday, April 30th.
