CYPRESS, CA – The Cypress College men's soccer team (11-3-5, 7-2-3 OEC) pushed to a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Golden West (6-5-6, 6-2-4 OEC) on Friday afternoon.
After a scoreless first half, the Chargers broke through in the 75th minute when Carlos Miranda found the back of the net off of a set piece tactic.
The Chargers controlled much of the match, outshooting the Rustlers 20-15 and holding a 13-7 advantage in shots on goal. Cypress keeper Demian Baldovinos was flawless, stopping all five shots he faced to earn the shutout.
Both teams matched each other in fouls (7-7), while Cypress held a slight edge in corner kicks (3-0).
