Cypress Men's Soccer Looks Ahead to the Postseason
The Chargers prepare for the 3C2A Regionals.
CYPRESS, CA - The Cypress men's soccer team is heading into the 3C2A Playoffs after a strong regular season. The team ended with 13 wins, 3 losses, and 5 draws. In terms of conference play, the Chargers had 9 wins, 2 losses, and 3 draws. They ended the season with a 5 game winning streak.
Sophomore Issac Morales is in the top 30 of the 3C2A offensive rankings. He is heading into the postseason with 9 goals and 7 assists. Freshman goalkeeper Demian Baldovinos allowed just 13 goals for the whole season, boasting a save percentage of 74%. Victor Enciso allowed 6 goals on the season with a save percentage of 78%.
Cypress had 7 players earn All-OEC recognition. Freshman defender Jesse Gonzalez was named Defensive Player of the Year for the OEC. Issac Morales, Dominick Resendiz, and Joaquin Araneda were named to the All-OEC First Team. Jacob De La Rosa, Erik Hernandez, and Alex Gomez Jr. were named to the All-OEC Second Team.
The Chargers will have familiar competition in Regionals. Cypress has already faced Moorpark (9-6-5, 5-3-2 WCC) and won 3-2. The Fullerton Hornets (8-6-7, 7-2-5 OEC) are also in the playoffs, a team that Cypress has tied with this season.
