Cypress Falls Short to the Oxnard Condors in Round 2 of the 3C2A Regionals
Despite tying the game in the second half, the Chargers fall just short of victory.

OXNARD, CA - The No. 15 seed Cypress men's soccer team (14-3-5, 9-2-3 OEC) loses to the No. 2 seed Oxnard Condors (12-2-4, 7-0-3 WSC) by a score of 3-2.
In the 12th minute, the Chargers were facing a 2-0 goal deficit. However, Erik Hernandez scored a penalty kick in the 44th minute to reduce the lead to 2-1. In the 63rd minute, Jesse Gonzalez found the back of the net to knot the game at 2. However, Oxnard would pull ahead once again and win the game.
Cypress ended the game with 4 shots taken, all of which were on goal. Goalkeeper Victor Enciso recorded 3 saves.
The Chargers concluded the season with 14 wins, 3 losses, and 5 draws overall. They placed 2nd in the highly competitive OEC, finding themselves just behind Irvine Valley. Cypress had 8 players earn All-OEC recognition. Freshman defender Jesse Gonzalez was named Defensive Player of the Year for the OEC. Issac Morales, Dominick Resendiz, and Joaquin Araneda were named to the All-OEC First Team. Jacob De La Rosa, Erik Hernandez, and Alex Gomez Jr. were named to the All-OEC Second Team.
Morales also placed 4th in the OEC in goals scored (9). Morales and Gonzalez were 4th and 5th on the assists rankings with 7 and 6, respectively. Goalkeeper Demian Baldovinos was 3rd in the OEC in terms of save percentage, posting a 76% average.
