Cypress Chargers Athletics Honors 2025-26 Season with Annual Banquet and Awards Ceremony
Cypress celebrates a year of broken records, inaugural sports, and 10+ programs seeing the postseason.
CYPRESS, CA - Cypress College Athletics ends a record-breaking 2025-26 season with the end-of-year athletics banquet. This is a gathering to acknowledge the year-long achievements of all student-athletes, coaches, and staff who aided in the success of the programs.
This past season, the Chargers reached new heights:
- 9 sports ended the season with winning records
- 13 of 14 sports advanced to postseason play [Baseball, Softball, Men/Women's Basketball, Men's Golf, Men's/Women's Soccer, Men's/Women's Swim & Dive, Men's/Women's Water Polo, Flag Football, and Beach Volleyball]
- Overall department record 191-118-7
- 50 All-Orange Empire Conference selections
- 12 All-State selections
- 8 All-American selections
- 1 Coach of the Year award
- 2025-26 Chancellor's Cup draw
In addition to this year's success, 14 Cypress student-athletes (and possibly more) have already committed to continuing their academic and athletic careers at four-year universities.

- Water Polo - Wes Brazda
- Basketball - Michael Wright

- Swim & Dive - Gio Demuro
- Female Athlete of the Year/Women's Swim & Dive Team MVP: Chantee Nguyen (Women's Swim & Dive) - 3 OEC Championship titles, 2 individual State Championships, State Swimmer of the Year, Best Women's Individual Performance
- Male Athlete of the Year/Men's Soccer Team MVP: Jesse Gonzalez (Men's Soccer) - OEC Defensive Player of the Year (first Charger in history to receive the award), 6 assists on the year tied him for the 3rd most in a single season
- Team of the Year: Women's Basketball: 23-8 overall record, finished 2nd overall in the OEC, advanced to the 3C2A State Championship quarterfinals
- Coaching Staff of the Year: Swim & Dive Coaching Staff, led by Head Coach Frisk Driscoll
- Best Individual Performance: Peyton Clark (Softball) - 2 home runs and 6 RBIs against her former college, Mt. SAC.
- Charger Award: Wes Brazda (Men's Water Polo) - Recognized for his strong athletic performances in the pool as well as in the classroom (3.53 GPA). Also named to the Allstate NACDA Good Works Team for his contributions to helping others and the community.
Scholar Athlete Awards (sponsored by former Cypress College Athletic Director & Dean, Diane Henry. Each award recipient will receive a $1,000 scholarship on behalf of the Cypress College Foundation).
- Jasmin De La Torre - Continuing her athletics career at Cal State LA, majoring in business administration.
- Jack Rivera - Continuing his athletics career at UC Santa Cruz while majoring in education.
