Cypress Wraps Season with Six Competitors at State Championships
Cypress ends the swim season with over 5 state championship participants.
COSTA MESA, CA - Cypress men's swim and dive wrapped up their season with multiple performances in the 3C2A State Championships.
Sean Eoin Tannehill swam in the 200 fly, 400 IM, and 1650 free. He placed top 15 in all three events. Aidan Sarreal was a finalist for both the 1M and 3M dives, placing 12th and 13th, respectively. Noah Brummitt Rodriguez swam a 21.08 in the 50 free final, beating his time from the previous meet. He finished the 100 free in 47 seconds flat.
Luke Edmundson was another finalist for Cypress, rounding out the distance field with Tannehill. Edmundson competed in the 1650 free finals, recording a time of 17:16.83 and coming in 16th place.
Gio Demuro completed the 50 free in 21.27 and later finished the 100 back in 53.88. Isaiah Bridgewaters was another finalist for both dive heights, finishing in 15th for the 3M and 16th for the 1M.
Overall, the Chargers had 6 participants at the State Championships.
A number of long standing school records were broken during this season. Gio Demuro broke the Cypress school record in the 100 backstroke, where he would post a personal best of 53.43 in the event. In the 100 IM, Victor Abella broke the previous school record when he swam a 58.65.
