Chargers Take Third at Home Event at Navy Golf Course
Cypress Finished Third with a 302 Team Score
CYPRESS, CA - Cypress College secured third place with a total score of 302 in their debut home match of the season.
The Chargers welcomed seven schools at Navy Golf Course on Monday, March 9th. College of the Desert displayed consistent performance, posting a team total of 292 to claim victory in the men's golf event. Cory Rose from Victor Valley delivered the standout performance of the day, carding a 71 and surpassing competitors from College of the Desert and Cypress. Linus Utter and Logan Marra of COD each contributed 72s, solidifying the Roadrunners' success, while Braxton McDonald and Cypress's Ian Shahwan recorded 73s to complete the top scores. The team standings behind Desert remained closely contested, with Victor Valley securing the runner-up position with a score of 301, anchored by Rose's 71. Cypress finished just one stroke behind Victor Valley at 302, earning a commendable third place at their home event. Ian Shahwan's performance with a 73 stood out for Cypress, keeping them competitive with the top teams. Ian secured 3 birdies, Aden Henry added 1 birdie, Teegan Cole started and finished his day with birdies, and Dino Torres began with his sole birdie for the Chargers.
