Chargers Men’s Golf Opens the 2026 Season at Soboba Springs
Cypress Chargers swung for six birdies in first tournament of the season
SAN JACINTO, CA- The Cypress College Men's Golf team took a trip out to Soboba Springs Golf Course on Wednesday where they finished 5th overall with a team score of 314.
Standout performer for the Chargers was Ian Shahwan. His consistent swing kept him to a 77 which allowed him to finish in 17th place of the top 20 for the tournament. Ethan Nash was close behind with a 78 after his two birdies early on in his rounds.
Birdies were a common sight for the Chargers this tournament as Jack Guthrie and Ethan Nash had two each in the beginning along with Teegan Cole's one birdie, and James Luther contributing one last one to the team's six birdies total towards the end of the rounds.
The Chargers have just a month until they kickoff conference matches, but till then have a few preseason tournaments to prepare.
UP NEXT: The Chargers will head to Steele Canyon next Wednesday, February 18th to compete in the Cuyamaca Invitational at 12:00 PM.
