Cypress Beach Volleyball Falls to 0-2 in Season Opener
LONG BEACH, CA- The Cypress College (0-2) hosted their beach volleyball season opener last Friday against Rio Hondo College (1-2) and Bakersfield College (3-3) at Rosie's Dog Beach in Long Beach.
The Chargers faced the Rio Hondo Roadrunners to kickstart the day where the No.1 pair Addison Riddle and Keilyn Flores fought back to win the second set 21-11. After struggling to find momentum early on, they flipped the game and forced a third set score of 15-5 to clinch a team point for the Chargers.
While their match was much closer, the No.2 pair Dahlia Gonzalez and Adaeze Handy faced challenges with a tight score in each set, but managed to slip away by just two points and also took down Rio Hondo in the third set 15-13.
With just two team points for the Chargers, they took the loss against Rio Hondo 2-3 overall.
Shortly after the first match, the Chargers took on the Bakersfield Renegades, but found no success as each pair went down in straight sets with a final team score of 0-5.
UP NEXT: The Chargers will travel to El Camino College on February 20th to take on the El Camino Warriors at 10:00 AM and the Glendale Vaqueros at 12:00 PM.
