Chargers Swimmers Qualify For 3C2A Champs
Chargers Put An End to the Swim Regular Season
MISSION VIEJO, CA - The Cypress Men's Swim team wrapped up their regular season this past weekend at Saddleback College. The men recorded some great times this season and always put up a competition in their races. Jose Limon kicked the meet off participating in the 500 yard freestyle and had a massive improvement. Limon started the season with a 5:40.15 and after this weekend was able to achieve a 5:29.07. Gio Demuro competed in the 50 yard freestyle and finished in the top 5 of conference with a time of 21.28. Diver Niccolo Scornaienghi once again showcased his ability to have high scores with a 262.45. He earned 20 points for the team by finishing in first place. On Friday Eoin Sean Tannehill kept things rolling by earning 2nd place in the 400 yard IM and added 17 points to the team. Tannehill had a seed time of 4:20.37 and dropped time to a 4:08.58. When event 18 the 100 yard fly came up Gio Demuro competed again finishing top 5 and dropping 2 seconds. Joey Barajas finished top 8 and earned 11 points for his team in the 100 yard backstroke. On Friday during the 1M dive Niccolo earned yet another first place victory. On Saturday Eoin Sean Tannehill finished in 3rd place and got 13 points to the team in the 1650 yard freestyle. Gio Demuro continued his success in the 100 yard freestyle with a 2nd place finish and a time of 46.46. The Chargers end their season on a high note with the chance to make history. Cypress will be sending two swimmers and two divers to Northern California which include Niccolo Scornaienghi, Porter Rosenlof, Gio Demuro, and Eoin Tannehill.
UP NEXT: The Chargers swim and dive team will travel to Santa Rosa College Thursday, May 1 for 3C2A championships.
